i'm off to warmer weather and sunny skies and meetings for a few days... i have some great travel mates. i will get to see a good friend i haven't seen in a long time and meet her cute baby girl.

can you believe grimes will be in concert in phoenix next week. boo. bad timing. i totally would have gone.

o and i have been netflixing 30 rock at night before bed. funny stuff. we laugh really hard.

this morning. the moon and a homeless lady.

if you did not see the moon going down this morning, you missed out big time! incredible.

later, when i was waiting on the platform for the train to take me to work, there was a homeless woman with a little cart brimming with her things. she was speaking to me, but i didn't realize until she spoke louder. she said, "this lady had a birthday on friday." i turned around and said, "happy birthday!" and as i looked at her i couldn't believe how beautiful she was. and i wondered what she looked like when she was young and how she got to this point in her life. she asked me if i would buy her a warm cup of coffee. i said absolutely. she thanked me and said "you are beautiful. God bless you." and she started singing and walked away. she seemed content. it tickled my tender little heart.

(i was headed out for a motorcycle ride with o after church!)

i snowshoed green basin via days fork on saturday. the weather was fantastic and i had a perfect time and loved the trail.

took the motorcycle out for a spin on sunday. my face was ccccccold. i loved it.

i finally worked on my project at home! my sewing/creative corner downstairs. i cleared it out. it was serving as a storage space. hung frames and set up my sewing machine(that needs to be serviced and oiled before i use it again). i need to hang two more frames and fill the empty ones with photos. buy a chair and a rug and finish putting a few things away and then it will be a usable space!

we also purchased a nice, big, white pot for dick. now we just need to plant him without breaking him.

i have cooked dinner every night this week, except for the night we ate cheap chinese. last night was quinoa. cooking makes me happy.

yesterday morning it was snowing big, huge flakes when i was running. i got a cramp in my hamstring which never happens?

i have a project at home i really would like to accomplish this weekend. it is bugging me a lot that i haven't done it yet. i would have to work on it all weekend though. we will see. i have to have my outside time or i will get mental. if the snow conditions permit, i will be on the mountain in my snowshoes for a few hours. if not, a long run. man, i need a road bike.

i got mail

last night on my walk home from work it felt all misty (really it felt moist, but i absolutely hate that word) outside. i was thinking about my sister jules and her girls and how they are like three little angles. i love them. when i got home i grabbed the mail and went inside. there was an envelope with a little heart sticker on it and it was from jules! it had a little message written on a heart and a handful of pictures of us. it absolutely made my day in every way. thanks jules vern. come and visit me.

then i cranked up the stereo, put on my apron and made chili,cornbread and honey butter like a little domestic lady.

i had the most fantastic run last night. i am still on a high from it!

i made breakfast for dinner too. one of my favorite things.

listened to the new headphones and pulled on gussy's ears. he loves that.

o and i walked down the street a couple night ago for cheap chinese. these were our fortunes. mine is the top one. we always add the words 'in bed' to the end of those fortune cookie sayings. makes them more fun and sometimes quite amusing.

we made a trip down the street to the green ant on saturday. we are on the prowl for a great chair to go next to the fireplace in our front room. i love going in there because he has always has cool stuff. lots of eams. plus, he has an english bulldog named anna and she is super duper cute. she and gus would make a cute bulldog couple.

i have a disgusting head cold right now. endless supply of snot.

i had the weirdest dream of my entire life last night. it is still so very fresh in my memory and i don't like it.

i worked at a satellite clinic yesterday and i walked home last night. it took me an hour. i was both whistled at and flipped off, but not mooned. also, i guess i never realized how many pawn shops and tattoo parlors there are on state street. weird.

i feel like a caged animal inside lately.

my tee shirts arrived. i like them. my shoes came too and they are super cute, but i think maybe i look stupid in them? i might send them back. i haven't decided yet.

we ate indian food here last night. i was so cold when i got home last night for some reason eating indian food seemed like it would make me feel warm. plus, have you ever tasted the rose milk? i guzzled the entire glass before the food came to the table. mmmm

it is the year of the dragon. whatever that means. my chinese zodiac. the horse. the earth horse to be exact.

if you are somewhere in the world today where the temperature is above 80 degrees, i think you should go rollerblading in your swimming suit. i think you would have fun. and if you are coordinated you could eat an ice cream cone at the same time! it's what i would do.

i couldn't pull myself out of bed sunday morning. i felt like crap and i'm just down. i just lay there staring at the ceiling for i don't know how long. i couldn't make myself go to church or eat, but i knew i needed to get out of the house. i needed some sunshine real bad and it was an absolutely gorgeous day. so, i went on a walk. this record shop is a couple blocks from my house and i passed by it on my way home. i had to stop and snap a few photos. record stores are cool and there aren't too many of them left it seems...

i forgot. the pistachio macaroons. they were pretty good.

it was a winter blizzard up in the canyons on saturday! i went up both big and little cottonwood. spent my afternoon in my snow shoes. i ended up finding these boots and they worked perfect. they are on sale at rei. i have sorrell's that i really like, but they cut into my ankles with my snow shoes on. the boots i got are super padded on the ankle. anyway, i enjoyed myself. it was a bit hairy getting out of my parking spot when i got back to the car even in 4 wheel low. coming down that canyon as well. i found the website snowshoeutah.com helpful.

i started my day with a little bon iver while i got ready for work this morning. i dig the bon iver. makes me feel mellow. this is really weird winter weather for utah. rain in january? 50 degrees? i have to say that i absolutely enjoyed my walk home in the rain last night though. fresh air and rain after being inside all day.

i made the macaroons! i didn't have enough pistachios to make the filling though and i didn't want to make a trip to the store last night. so i will whip that up tonight and put them together so my friends and neighbors can eat them up. i had to do some improvising. they will turn out better next time. i will photo the final product.

today is a bit lame for more reason than one.

yesterday i spent my afternoon putting together a power point presentation. i was finished and ready to go home and i lost the whole thing. yes i did. swears were said. tried to retrieve it. not successful. i went home and went for a run. my last mile was my fastest mile yet. then i laid in a bubble bath and read my book. and then i went to bed.

i just opened power point to start over. maybe it will turn out better the second time around. i think it will.

do you ever wish you could take a power washer to your brain and just clean it out really good?

do you think it takes more effort to just be mean? i mean, to just be a mean person. it's seems like it would be so much easier to just be nice. i had the pleasure of working with a very mean person today and it was a bit mind boggling to me. seriously, she had to work at it to pull it off. we all have reasons to be bitter and mean, but most of us choose to be kind to others i think.

it is going to snow! probably on me as i walk home tonight. which i would be totally ecstatic about. it should be the big, fluttery snow flakes that fall straight down and get stuck on the eyelashes though.

i am baking tonight. i read through that macaroon recipe last night. i am not confident they will turn out!

i can't think of anything funny to say right now. and you know what? i am not in a bad mood today at all, but for some reason i feel like i have been having a hot flash all day. do you think my period is going to start? that would explain the breakout on my face.

i made a small feast on sunday night. o made some really good, creamy gravy for the roast and potatoes. as we were cooking we realized we had a whole lot of food. so, we had the neighbors come over and help us eat it. thanks guys!

i was sabotaged by ice and wind and snow, but mostly ice.
oh well.
my boogers felt frozen. and to be honest, i got a little spooked when i got back up in there a mile or so.

we went and saw mission impossible with our friends tonight. and then we ate here.
we all share a basket of blue cheese fries and they were pretty damn good.

it might take more than 6 miles to burn those babies off!

o bought me a gluten free cook book a while back and when i went shopping on saturday i bought the stuff to make french macaroons. pistachio. i didn't get a chance to make them yet thought. a plan for this week. i promised to share with neighbors so they must turn out delicious!

what a long, busy week. wowza. i ordered the patagonia boots from here today to bring me good luck! they were on sale and then 10% off on top of that. yes!

my morning did not start off in a stellar fashion my friends. we didn't get to bed last night until, well, morning. i am totally a morning person, but i had a very hard time dragging my butt out of bed when little iphone(who is tired of being naked. need a case) was trying to buzz me awake. i got ready super quick. i was ready to go out the door. scarf on. coat on. bag over my shoulder. i grab the gigantor container of greek yogurt from the fridge and go to set it on the counter and i drop it at my feet. holy crap. it was like a mother freaking geyser! my shoes, pants, cabinets, floor, rug and counter covered. in. yogurt. despite what my family thinks i might have done next, i remained calm. its' true. but, i was an hour late to work. awesome.

have you ever heard of threadless ? my friend emailed me a gift card for christmas. i ended up ordering 5 tee shirts yesterday. they each have a name, which is kinda cool. i ordered these:

i took a patient back to do an imaging procedure earlier today and he said, "that nail polish is powerful. wow." when we were finished with the imaging, we got up so i could take him back to clinic to see the doctor and he said, "i won't forget you hot pink girl". it made me giggle. yes, it was a little old man. yes, i painted my nails hot pink last night. last week this cute little old lady told me she loved my pants and that she was jealous of my "tiny little caboose"! these guys crack me up. no filter.

i slept in on sunday morning. well, i mostly lay there awake, but i got out of bed late. it was nice.

if i had kids, we would dance around the house together to loud music every night.

i have to give a power point presentation at work next month. i despise doing that. but, i must.

i am going to hold mel's baby tonight. she is a beauty.

o filled out the census. that thing is like a million pages long....

friday. music. goals. and other stuff.

first things first, new music from 4AD. o did some downloading last night. in particular i like the song 'genesis' by grimes. a lot. also, 'the vision' by joker. you can listen to them both on the 4AD website. i hope there is lots of good music in store for 2012.

my favorite song of 2011. 'amarillo' by gorillaz. i feel a little tug on my heart and tear in my eye every time i listen to it and i love it. as far as albums go, i guess i didn't really have a favorite last year. i liked the albums, tv on the radio, gugus and massive attack put out, but i didn't love any of them...

i wrote down a list of goals a couple of mornings ago. apparently there is scientific evidence that you are more likely to reach them if you write them down. i am an extremely motivated and competitive individual.
so, i figure i should put it to good use and get my butt into some races. i think i would have the most fun doing a triathlon? i need start biking more and running harder(i am so glad you can't hear me talking to myself while i run). as for the swimming? scares the shit out of me. that would be the part that would keep me from doing it and trying a marathon instead.

i read the article 'train your brain' in outside magazine yesterday. it's great. you should read it. i do many of the things they listed already, but i have lots i can improve on. i need to work on mixing up my running routes too. and my mantra, "cyrie, you can go faster".

i cooked dinner for o the other night in nothing but my cute new apron. and heels.

my mom sewed all homemade presents for us this christmas and she has arthritis in her hands. i think that is pretty amazing. thanks mom(i put my new apron to good use already)!

i am going hiking tomorrow. i hope to see the new mission impossible this weekend. i loved the last one and i hear this one is good too. have a superb weekend my friends.

o and i had our christmas together on the morning of christmas eve before we headed up to the cabin.

stuffing the stocking full of goods is my favorite part. i got o some good stuff. by the way, the men's 50/50 t's at american apparel are awesome. i put 3 or 4 in his stocking and he loves them. they fit really good, feel great, and come in really good colors. although, they are 22 bucks each! worth it though.

i have a nickname you may not know about. pickle. this chap stick was in my stocking and is surprisingly creamy and tastes just like fresh dill?!

eddie bauer carries this great line of outerwear. first ascent. i got o the microtherm down hooded jacket. it ended up being too large, but we were able to exchange it at the eddie bauer store before we headed up the cabin and he ended up getting the blue. he loves it! i want one.

sunny sky. warm temps. and no snow. stark contrast from last year. it snowed the entire time and the snow on the deck went above the windows on the doors!

good morning sunshine. we are home from a week at the cabin! it was very, um, eventful. and there was hardly any snow. my little brother got engaged on christmas eve. my little sister totalled one of the snowmobiles. my nephew broke his femur and i called 911. life flight came to the cabin and took him to primary children's to have surgery. he was one tough cookie. i am proud of him. o and i going to pay him a visit tomorrow. i went running every morning with jules. it is amazing what an extra 3000 feet in elevation does to your breathing! i will blog all about it soon.
as soon as we got home on thursday night we walked to chanon for thia food. we ran into a few people we knew which was fun.

oh my. today was crazay! but, it is slowing down now. i am having brunch at my home tomorrow for my friends julia and mel. we are having cinnamon rolls, arugula salad, eggs and sausage, fresh fruit, cocoa, cider and well, we won't be hungry for the rest of the day!

do you want to see something funny? we were putting away our laundry last night and i opened one of my t shirt drawers. i started laughing pretty hard when i saw the three t shirts that were on top. i showed o and he started laughing and told me i should take a picture. what does this say about my personality?

we ate poached eggs and ham with cheddar and chipolte on gluten free english muffins last night. it was so good in my mouth and so bad in my tummy.

um, gotta run. i need to post some music soon. i will tell you my favorite album of 2011.

did you see the moon last night? i hope so. look what i got for o. it is seriously cool. i highly recommend getting one. we put it in our bedroom.

i ordered it from here. i spotted it on one of my favorite blogs, simple lovely .

the instructions are in chinese though.

i went to get my hair trimmed last night. key word. trimmed. it is now like 3 inches shorter. why do they do that? oh well. she gave me a good head and neck massage though.

mel had her baby girl this week. she is perfectly beautiful.

we brought one of those maple stumps in from my back porch and put it by the fire place. i thought it might look festive with some fresh pine boughs, candles and shiny silver balls sitting on top of it?

i decided to put up a tree in the basement.

we had moochies for dinner. it is o's favorite. luckily they have a salad i could eat with one of their perfect meatballs on top.

say hello to my new bandit coon. he is awesome. found in this store. i ogled him a while back. he was waiting on the kitchen counter when i got home last night. sweet.

i feel distracted. think about this though. the work week is half over.

sorry in advance, i've been playing with the hipsatamic app on my phone. yikes!

the gus is good. he does have some changes in his cornea that will probably leave a little scar, but the vet started him on some drops that are helping a lot. little trooper.

let's just start with this little bit of information and get it out of the way because i know your going to think it when you see photos of me from the weekend. not that it is any of your business, but, i know. i'm. too. skinny. my mom says my bones are sticking out. i have a terrible time with my stomach. you already know that. i am skinny to begin with and very active. said problem has been reeking havoc on me. and it just seems to be getting worse at this point. i had a 'problem' all week last week(without giving tmi). makes it hard to get the calories i need anyway. by the time i had a massage, spent a relaxing time in the sauna, the steam room and the hot tub, well you can see my weight below.

don't freak out. i tried to eat as many calories as humanly possible this weekend to make up for it. and the only reason i weighed myself is because there just happened to be a scale in our amazing hotel suite.

now on to the good stuff. o spoiled me rotten this weekend. seriously. it was so relaxing. he scheduled a full body massage for me at the spa in the grand america hotel for saturday afternoon. it was awesome. then i took full advantage of the amenities. i love being warm. then i went up the suite he booked for us for the night. and i took a hot bubble bath and painted my nails. i could have spent the whole weekend in the that bathroom. we got spiffed up and went to a christmas party for my work. dinner. dancing. o does not dance. but i had to bust a move. you betcha. i never pass up a chance to dance. i wore the new dress and heels i told you about previously. anthropologie.

we had a great view from our balcony. everything was decorated and lit up for christmas. magical. we slept in, ordered room service and checked out the bakery and the shops. croissants and macaroons. mmmm

the toy store was my favorite part!

it felt like a romantic little vacation even though we were just a few blocks from home. i highly recommend it. thank you o! love you.

i love looking at old photos. i pull out the photo albums at my parents almost every time i visit. my growing up years were fun and exciting. at thanksgiving dinner we went around the table and each said something we were thankful for. mine was my childhood. we had so much fun and went so many rad places. how my parents did it with 5 kids is mind boggling to me (my brother jordi came much later).

anyway, here is a list for friday...

i think the gus man has a corneal ulcer or some corneal erosion. he is going to the vet tomorrow. he is getting old and slowing down a bit :( but, still as cuddly as ever.

on yesterdays list, i said that i am an extrovert and o is an introvert. this gal posted a really cute comic today on that very thing. i have really been liking the topics she has been covering on her website lately.

i really like going home to a sparkling christmas tree at night. a lot.

my friend is in nepal doing lots and lots of cataract surgeries. i would love to share with you some beautiful photos he has taken next week.

i have been making breakfast for dinner a lot lately.

o and i have been married 14 years on december 6th. he has something fantastic planned for us this weekend. i am looking forward to it with muchness.

i want it to snow so i can go skiing. and christmas at the cabin must be white!

the wind blows

holy crap it has been windy around here. i think i almost blew away on my run this morning! the wind has made the air over the city crispy clear though. our yard looks like a hurricane came through.

i haven't been able to see the moon much lately.

i am an extrovert. o is an introvert.

my friend at work went to an estate sale over the weekend. she saw something that reminded her of me. a bike ornament. she bought it and gave it to me. i love it. it is hanging right here at my desk. nice people are the best.

i have 2 french braids today. say hi to vladamir the vulture.

my mom gave me and my sisters a bunch of old photos from my grandma's cedar chest this weekend. we had a great time looking through them. they are sitting in a pile on my desk. i will get them scanned and post a few because you will likey. especially the one of me in an 80's snow suit, moon boots and a bright orange hat. sweet.

i want to be hooked to a feeding tube for my nourishment so that i don't have to put food in my belly that makes it hurt anymore.

we went out for cheap sushi on saturday, then o and i headed for vail. we stayed in this bed and breakfast.

i would recommend it. it was lovely. big fireplace at the foot of the bed. gigantic tub wrapped up in river rocks. bath salts. sky light. there were quite a few skiers on the slopes, but they were making all the snow with machines:(

we made a drive through colorado national monument on the way home and went for a little hike. a nice break for our butts.

it was a fantastic holiday.

and then.

back to work.

and today sucks big time. you know how a day just feels wrong. everything about it? ya, it's one of those. carry on!

3 things i highly recommend for a long drive in the car:

a route with beautiful scenery. even if it takes longer to get there.

we spent thanksgiving on an air force base in colorado at my sister jules house. it was almost 70 degrees on thanksgiving day! felt so good. i ran every morning and it was so fun to have running partners. i always run alone and i didn't know how enjoyable it could be running with other people. there is a great path on base that we went on.
angie can't run because she had a knee surgery. so she biked. hence, the helmet.

scenes of preparing and feasting. we are good at that. the food was delish!

we took full advantage of the perfect weather and headed outside to the park as soon as we were done eating. we didn't go in until little fingers and toes were froze!

don't worry jules, you'll have a new tooth soon enough!

dangerous business for an old lady. don't think for a second that didn't hurt the backs of my legs like crazy hanging there like that. but it was fun.

then we went home. ate pie. put the kids to bed. and watched a movie. a good day indeed. i am thankful for my family.

i met up with a few of my lady friends on friday night. we ate at trio. try the beet and arugula salad. it's tasty.

this is jeri. we have been friends since we were just babes. we grew up competing together on the same gymnastics team. we spent all of our time at the gym. after school every night. and during the summer all day every day. long training and practicing for competition and perfecting routines. taping our wrists and our ankles. hands, legs and feet covered in chalk. competing over and over. we competed at the utah summer games together. gymnastics was our life. we were obsessed with nadia comaneci and mary lou retton. we were talking at dinner about how much money and time it must have cost our parents! and whether or not we would do it again. we decided it probably made us the disciplined adults we became and that we wouldn't change it.

i talked her into shaving her legs for the first time. we were in the tub together at her house and i don't remember how old we were. young enough to be bathing together i guess. we got in trouble.

when we get together, even if it has been a couple of years, it's like it was yesterday. Jer, you rock. we must get together more often.

i will not admit to the movie we went and saw after dinner. i will say this. it is the worst movie i have ever seen. but that was a really good sucker you got from your trunk.

it snowed gigantic snow flakes on friday night. i liked it.

we put up christmas. yes, my neighbors gave me a hard time! i love my white tree. too many pictures i know.

we went to listen to o's brother justin give his presentation for graduate school on saturday. we went and ate at the atlantic cafe afterward. i recommend it for sure. so good.

i made this pumpkin bread on sunday and it turned out really good. i was skeptical. i substituted corn flour for the all purpose flour, added dark chocolate chunks and pecans and i added an extra egg.

1 cup canned pumpkin

1/2 c vegetable oil

1 1/3 c white sugar

2 eggs

1 1/2 c and 1 tbls flour

1/2 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp cinnamon

1/2 tsp nutmeg

1/2 tsp ground cloves

bake at 350 degrees for approximately 1 hour in a loaf pan

long. i am going to pack. super 8 arrived on blue ray today. we are excited to see it again. have you seen it yet? it has a goonies feel to it.

it is sorta grey and dreary outside today. the sun is peaking through now and then. i just got home from a very slippery, muddy hike. we got home from church and o opted for a snooze and i chose to loose some pent up energy. i have lots of it. i enjoyed myself and was giggling at how much i was sliding around. i about biffed it a couple of times.

the funnest date i ever went on was spent in the mud. there were a bunch of us and we played tackle football in the dark in a gigantic fenced, muddy pen. you could see the whites of our eyes and our teeth. probably told you that before. so fun.

i will post the rest of the weekend later tonight or tomorrow. i am going to take a hot bath, make gluten free pumpkin chocolate chip cookies and then we will put up the christmas tree...

lehua sent me a text last night that made me grin from ear to ear. we made it on to the neighbor kids thankful list! i love that. i love those kids and am thankful for them.

i am going out with the ladies tonight. dinner and movie. these are girls i grew up with.

o and i are making a stop at the library tomorrow to get a book to listen to for our long drive to jules house for thanksgiving next week. i only work monday and tuesday and then i get to squeeze my nieces and nephews!

pick up my iPhone. i haven't been taking many pictures lately, but that will change shortly.

one of o's younger brothers is defending his whatever tomorrow for graduate school so we will go listen to that and then grab some dinner with his fam. o has 3 brothers and they are rad. we have had some epic adventures together for sure. one involves a white water canoe trip with british pals that included destroyed canoes, dislocated shoulders, er trips and the crazy circulation of rumors that someone died on the trip! small towns. lucky o and i actually used a whitewater canoe and came out in one piece. i love memories like that.

i love this song.

i am putting up my sparkly white christmas tree this weekend! i know it is early, but since we will be away for thanksgiving and it is tradition to put it up that weekend...i want it to be up when i get home.

thursday = crazy town

i ran my usual route this morning, but, i ran it backwards. not i ran backwards. rather, i started at the end and ended at the start. do i sound like dr. seuss? it changed the whole dynamic of my run. it really felt strange to me and my senses seemed more alert or something. i find it interesting.

i think my boobs have been shrinking a little with the mileage i've been putting in

if i have time tonight, i will stop and pick me up an iphone. if not, saturday is the day. woot! i keep getting little pieces of glass stuck in my finger from my shattered screen.

talking to a therapist is good. i am not embarrassed to say it.

baked pumpkin and sour cream pudding on smitten kitchen . are you kidding? my mouth is watering! i will be trying out that recipe very soon indeed. yum

um, found something on the outside blog that caught my fancy. well, all of it really. yes, the mountain bike review too. but, i am talking about this ad campaign for smartwool . i love smartwool. the socks. oh yes, i have many pair stuffed into my sock drawer. i would look pretty ridiculous stripped down to nothin but my smartwool socks! but maybe i will think of something clever to do?

its funny because i was just telling o last night while we were walking the pooch that one of my dream jobs would be to test out outdoor products for companies. they would send me the stuff and i would get to go do the things i love using their products and then tell them what i think. ah, pipe dream. that's what famous athletes get to do. lucky.

o's brother is coming to visit for a month in december. he called last night. he and o are taking me ice climbing!!!!!!!!!!! booya

the scabs on my shoulder are gross and infected and keep getting caught on the fibers of my shirts and sweaters. ew.

i stare out the window at the mountains every day on my way to work. they amaze me and they are covered with snow right now. i loved how the sun was behind them just about to peek over the top this morning.

good morning all. i have been a bit of a blog slacker for the last week! anyway, here are some scenes from the weekend... i hope yours was stellar.

have you ever stuffed a sweet potato with hot chipolte seasoning, brown sugar, pecans, and sour cream? no. you are missing out! a perfect friday night dinner that makes your house smell delicious.

on saturday we went from ikea, to walls, to lowe's, to target, to anthropologie, to gap, to modern display and somewhere in between we stopped for a smashburger and sweet potato fries. i just got my burger naked (bun free) before i ate it. mmm naked burger.

we didn't end up purchasing a few of the main things we set out to buy. we were going to get a new couch for the basement and a new christmas tree? but, we did come home with a couple window covers that don't fit, a couple of new christmas decorations (white), a wallpaper sample that has pearly white cassette players and record players on it (i might do an accent wall in my dining room with it), a pair of snake skin heels and a cute little dress from anthroplogie, hot lingerie for moi (just a hint, gap body has super cute bra and panties. hot pink lace! yes. these wireless lace bras are super comfortable and cute. just trying to help you sexy lady folk out) and new lamps for the whole house. yipee!

just some randoms. this little guy has been waiting for weeks to be planted. he is happy now. i got a few stuck in my fingers during the transfer. love me a good cactus. he will live in the guest room.

i fell when i went running on saturday night. i usually run in the street instead of on the sidewalk when i get to my street because there are a few spots where the big tree roots have lifted up the sidewalk so it isn't flat. plus, it is usually dark so i can't see those spots too good. so i come around my corner feeling really good. i just got 5 miles in and for some reason i stay on the sidewalk and sure enough. i caught a lip and it threw me down on my right hand and shoulder and i smacked my head. i rolled over onto my back in the snow and said some swears while i laid there for a minute. my shoulder looks like road rash now, all scabby along with both of me knees. my arm is sore and tender, but i am totally fine! idiot. 2011 is the year of clumsiness for me for some reason. i swear this never happens to me. maybe i should stop driving a car? the fall shattered the face of my phone, but it still works! i will be getting a new phone sooner than i thought...

late night pumpkin pancakes

made pancakes last night. it was late and we hadn't had dinner and pancakes just seemed like the perfect thing. i used the red mill mix and added lots of canned pumpkin, pecans, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, brown sugar...you get the idea. o opted to drown his in maple syrup. they were super good just plain.

my mittens mel made me for christmas last year are perfect to wear running now that it is colder and it is so handy not to have to take them off if i need to use the touch screen on my phone to take a picture or skip a song. that is my new essie polish color. merino cool. me like.

happy monday to you. it was so so nice to have daylight on my morning run. i couldn't see the moon this morning though and i was looking up trying to find it and i tripped and dropped my phone in the middle of the road. so i am scrambling around picking up the pieces looking like a total moron. but, i didn't get hit by a car so that's a plus!

the weekend was pretty good. i went running when i got home on friday night and i came in the house all sweaty and flushed and o wants to go to the movie. so like any descent woman, i threw on some jeans, a hat and some chap stick right over my sweaty body. we saw tower heist and we laughed until our stomachs ached. very funny indeed. then we drove around in the snow for a while listening to some good tunes. it was such a pretty night. the capitol was all lit up in the snow.

i was surprised how much it snowed when i got up on saturday morning and it was still snowing huge flakes. i sat and stared out the window while i ate breakfast. i gave mel's baby a fuzzy white coat with brown stripes on the inside and a hood and fuzzy, white socks. baby has to be warm and snugly.

i wore my plaid hobo coat for the first time this year.

we had soup night saturday. i made tomato blue cheese soup and it was seriously divine. i also made a potato corn chowder. both recipes are vegetarian and gluten free. i used vegetable stock in place of chicken stock.

justin and nathan made a salad with asian pears, goat cheese and a fig and garlic balsamic vinaigrette

mel and mo brought breads that made my mouth water as i watched everyone dip them into their soup. damn. and then we had hot cocoa with whipped cream for dessert. ahh. we reminisced about how it snowed last time we had soup night and we were all rolling with laughter over a certain conversation involving snuggies (you know those blankets that have sleeves?). awesome.

o's dad and step mom both have a birthday the 1st week of november. i baked them the white chocolate brownies. yes. i gave in and ate one ok. i have been so so disciplined on this diet. it tasted so good i wanted to cry. i totally got a bad stomach ache after that, but it was worth it my friends.

here are a couple of those cards i told you about on friday. too clever :) the zucchini one is especially humorous to me because it has become tradition for me every time i come home from the grocery store to leave vegetables or fruit laying just so on the counter top...makes o smile.

this should not surprise you. you know me well enough by now.

i'm going running after work rain, snow or sleet. i wonder if i will go to an indoor track for the winter? doubt it. i'm too cheap and tough for that. ha ha. mostly i am just an idiot. this week flew by because it is already friday and i don't know how that is possible? my stomach hurts and is a little swollen this week from the stupid antibiotics i am on. lame.

o and i are working really hard on our relationship. i want to share with you some super cute and kinda naughty cards i gave him this week to let him know that i love him. you can look forward to seeing those on my weekend post.

so what's up with your weekend? i am shopping for some baby stuff tonight because i am going to a shower for mel in the morning. i am very particular about baby stuff. i don't like traditional styles and things. i certainly don't like that disney character shit.

speaking of babies, i have been imaging a baby in the nicu for a few weeks and she weighed 400 grams the first time imaged her. so tiny. she has grown a lot in just a few weeks. babies are mind boggling to me. a person that weighs 400 grams? wow

i want to get some snow shoes. and i need new ski boots.

i think this hike will be on the menu for me shortly.

crap, i wasn't going to make a list today but it just happened naturally. anyway, we are hoping to look for a front door, find a white christmas tree and we are having soup night at our house tomorrow night with friends. i don't know what else. i am excited for it to snow! i know you probably aren't.

it's going to snow this weekend!

i need to take down my halloween decorations:( but that means the time is near for putting up a christmas tree. i love coming home at night to a twinkling tree. love it. i am getting a white tree this year and i am pretty excited about it!

i bought 3 new nail polish colors last night and did my nails. oooh la la

did you notice the moon last night? it's halfsies. the moon intrigues me.

my phone is on it's last leg and when it dies i am getting the new iphone. it has a nice camera on it. i just hate getting used to a new phone.

my friend baked gluten free brownies for me this week. they were delicious. and that was a super nice thing.

i can't wait to get away and see my sisters this month. i miss them way too much.

i was in the shower this morning (after my dog totally sabotaged my workout by coming in from doing his business with muddy feet) enjoying the hot steamy water when my shower head broke and came off. so the water was blasting out like a fire hose. i had to hurry real fast and it kinda hurt when i was rinsing my face and other stuff. my drain couldn't keep up with the water pressure so i was standing in a pool of my own filth. ew. and the whole bathroom got soaked. it made me laugh and i wasn't even late for work. woot!

my run this morning was sooooo refreshing. it smelled so good outside. rain. i love rain. overcast skies glowing a little bit pink as the sun is coming up. it put me in a super mood. it is snowing out there now. yikes! speaking of snow. i have a goal to become a better skier this winter. i want to be able to ski well. did you know that o is like a master mogul skier? he is. also, i haven't been ice climbing in years and i really want to go this winter.

anyway, hope you had a fantastic halloween. i got a little tear in my eye when i saw all of my neighbors out there together with their cute kids trick or treating together. i felt a little jealous for a split second. so cute they are. me and o gave out candy, had some dinner and watched a scary movie...

gus was a little unsure about all the people knocking and ringing the door bell. i made him wear a glow stick and he was a good sport about it. it was still glowing this morning when i left for work. look at that face. ah

hi. it's me. the slacker. believe me when i say i have good reason for not blogging.

first i want to say this-
thank you o. for treating me with love, respect, and kindness the last week when you could have done otherwise.

second, scenes from the weekend-
things were going ok on friday. my right ear was nagging me with pain. nothing i couldn't work through. my cute blog post was lost when i tried to post it, and i said forget this.

saturday i woke up. my ear was killing me and at this point i can't hear out of it. i take lots of ibuprofen and decongestant and try to ignore it. because that's what i do. ignore when something is wrong with me. clean my house. o and i head up mill creek canyon and hike thayne canyon. it was so quiet up there and the trail such that i felt like the headless horseman was going to ride up behind us. rad. by the time we got back down the whole side of my face and neck hurt and it seriously felt like my ear would explode.

then we made a few stops to round up some stuff for our bandit costumes. take more ibuprofen, contemplate a trip to the er and do yard work instead. i had bags and bags of top soil and mulch to put in my beds in front and wanted to get it done while it is still warm enough. plus i love getting my hands dirty in my yard.

we ate nachos. i baked cookies because i have promised our sunday school class for 2 weeks that i would.(it was very hard to make them and smell them and not eat them. damn it.)

we put on our costumes and at this point i am practically deaf in my right ear and in a pretty good amount of pain. don't care. love costumes. love halloween. not going to miss a halloween party because my ear hurts.
plus we had cool plastic hand guns down our pants that made shooting sounds.

mel was a cute prego witch and justin and nathan were, well, scantily clad cowboy and indian.

go home. it's late. i am in way too much pain to sleep and am worried because the amount of pressure i feel in my ear is just way to much. go to er. tell o he can't come with me because he needs to be awake in church tomorrow since he has to speak and teach a lesson. get home and climb into bed at 4 am. up at 8:00. get to church looking seriously haggard. got to hear o's talk. which was very good.
sunday school. the kids were very happy about the cookies. go home. nap with o for a couple of hours. wake up. start vomiting. awesome. we are supposed to be having sushi night with a few neighbors to celebrate marissa and emmett being home from italy very soon now. lehua has already purchased all the fish and i am supposed be over there helping her make it. i am not thinking logically. i wash my face, put a little make up on and change my clothes. o is saying, "cyrie, you can't go. it's ok. just text lehua and tell her you are sick. go get in bed please." and i am saying, "i'm fine. i'll be fine." barely make it to the kitchen sink before i throw up yet again. more swears. a little crying. walk across the lawn with a little mascara smeared under my watering eyes with cookies and tell lehua i am sorry. get into bed again with o and watch a movie. lehua was so sweet to walk over with a big plate of sushi for o and i watched him eat it. he made yummy sounds and i got a little mad. he put half of it in a tupperware for me to eat for lunch today. i would have liked to stay home today and take it easy, but a coworker called in sick. the ear thing is not resolved. the er doc was an ass. the ent clinic can't get me in for over a week. what a joke. ahh.

happy halloween! i made super cute treat bags for the cute kiddos on my street. halloween erasers, pencils, glow sticks and candy. i love halloween.

fish tacos for dinner last night. sometimes the very best meals are the ones created from rounding up whatever is left in your fridge and cupboard and getting creative.

i streamed talapia and cod in butter, olive oil, lemon juice, clove of garlic, salt, pepper, chili powder and coriander

chopped up spinach, arugula, dill, cucumber, carrot and tossed it in peach balsamic vinegar(which i am not sure is gluten free?)

heated up some black beans

grated parmesan

blue corn taco shells

ya, a total mishmash that tasted damn good! just ask o(who btw sent me flowers yesterday while i was at work) i hope your tuesday is going super where ever you are in the blog world. xo

(that title got your attention didn't it mom! i have a very bad history of mooning at inappropriate times, but that is not what this post is about...) i forgot to mention the moon. very very early this morning when i stepped out into the darkness and the crisp air for my run, the first thing i did was look up to see what the moon was doing. i could see shape of the whole round moon, but most of it looked like a dark shadow. just a very thin edge was lit up. it was amazing. swoon.

the gluten free pizza was a hit! for toppings i used a red sauce, parmesan, mozzarella, blue cheese, thin sliced salami, basil and tomatoes. then i threw some arugula on top when i took it out of the oven. made one on friday and o requested another on sunday. i was happy to oblige.

our microwave is fixed. yahoo! o and i went biking on saturday. i got a flat. of course. o says i get more flats than any one he has ever known. what can i say? i let him fix it for me :)

sunday night we headed up mill creek with the pooch. we enjoyed a fire, cooked up some dessert in foil and took gus on a little hike. it was beyond perfect fall weather. (o is very particular when building a campfire. i love watching him and teasing him about it.) sweet hatchet eh. we used remnants of the old garage at our house that was tore down for firewood.

guess what? i went to pick up that mirror i saw at the consignment store home again, (that was the perfect size, but i didn't purchase it when i originally saw it because i thought i better shop around first. damn you cyrie for being that way sometimes. when you find the perfect thing you are looking for, buy it. i should have learned this lesson by now.) a couple came in and bought it 20 minutes before i got there! are you kidding me? the search continues. ikea didn't have anything that would work, but of course i left with a cart full of crap!

~~top of the mornin to ya on this totally busy friday morning!~~ morning was over a long time ago...

i am having a hard time getting in to the book i am reading right now. but, i am hopeful it will get more intriguing. maybe i will get a chance to read in the bath this weekend?

i am wearing some old keen shoes today and i'm pretty sure they stink.

we went and ate at the wild grape bistro last night after work. it was really good. they have a new menu that isn't on the website yet, but you get the idea. arugula with pears and hazelnuts. mm mm

clinical trials make. me. crazy. it is the part of my job i hate.

the part arrived for our microwave. they will fix it tomorrow. i will make sure i am not home because repair people in my house messing it up stress me out. no more cold left overs.

i ate cucumbers and hummus on some toast after a run the other day and i think it will become a staple.

i had psychotic dreams all night. i think i woke up between every single one sweating.

my niece dani (her royal chubbiness) turned one. i can't believe it. i get to squeeze her next month and i am so excited about it. jules text me this photo of her on her birthday. that hair! i gush.

tonight i am making that pizza i told you about. i want to eat it right now. tomorrow i am going mountain biking. yes indeed. i am also going on the search again for a gigantic mirror for my front room. downloaded the murder mystery game today for the party justin, mel and i are having. looks a little involved. so we are getting together to make character assignments and make sure we understand it all! and, that's about it.

i have to tell you that i wore leggings last week. this a big first for me folks. what's the big deal? i've always been self conscious of my short little legs. maybe i am getting more comfortable with my body in my old age. maybe.

these gigantic maple stumps were in a huge pile on the curb during the neighborhood cleanup. they were way too cool to leave there, so i made owen help me roll a couple back to our porch for sittin on.

i was so excited to find these patchouli scented candles! my favorite smell in the whole world.
